Stuart Robertson’s love affair with India began when he first visited in 1985. He moved to India in 1989 and lived and stayed on for over 7 years, working in Delhi - where he met his wife - and travelling extensively throughout the country. He has returned regularly and his fascination with the people and culture has grown as his paintings have evolved from realistic depictions to simpler representations grasping the mood and feeling of the subject matter rather than literal detail. The current work is fresh, bold and vibrant, in the light and colours of India, using a variety of media including watercolour, pastel, collage and gold leaf. Robertson studied at Maidstone and Wimbledon Colleges of Art. He has exhibited in numerous solo and mixed shows in India and the UK. He has been elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS http://www.royalwatercoloursociety.co.uk) in 2005. He shows regularly at the RWS in London Southbank and the Piers Feetham Gallery in Fulham (http://www.piersfeethamgallery.com), where he has had solo shows. ROBERTSON IS SHOWIMG AT THE PIERS FEETHAM GALLERY FROM 17 NOV TIL 3 DEC 2011 This website shows examples of Robertson’s studio work (see Gallery 1), watercolours on site in India (see Gallery 2) as well as watercolours on location work in London and elsewhere (see Gallery 3).
